Saint Joan of Arc (1412-1431)

O God, you have chosen Saint Joan of Arc to defend her country against the invading enemy. Through her intercession, grant that we may work for justice and live in peace. 
We pray through Jesus Christ, your Son, living and reigning with You and the Holy Spirit, one God forever and ever. Amen.
Saint Joan of Arc was born in Domremy in Lorraine (France), in 1412.
Until the age of seventeen years she lived the life of a simple sheperdess. At this time she was commanded by Heavenly Voices to lead the French armies against the English forces which had invaded France. She did so with great success. Betrayed, she was tried by civil and ecclesiastical courts and condemed to death. She was burned alive at the stake in Rouen, May 31, 1431. Oh Dios, Tú has elegido a Santa Juana de Arco
para defender su país contra el enemigo invasor.
A través de su intercesión,  concédenos  que
podamos trabajar por la justicia y vivir en paz.

Santa Juana de Arco nació en Domremy-Lorraine, Francia, en 1412. Hasta la edad de 17 años vivió como una simple pastora. Por este tiempo fue ordenada mediante Voces Celestiales para guiar la armada Francesa contra las fuerzas Inglesas, las que habían invadido Francia. Lo hizo con gran éxito.  Traicionada, ella fue enjuiciada por la corte civil y eclesiástica y condenada a muerte. Fue quemada viva a un poste en Ruán, Mayo 31, 1431. Un juicio posterior estableció su inocencia y después del debido proceso fue declarada Santa en 1920.
