TO SAINT BERNADETTE
O MY GOD,
I BEG YOU, BY YOUR LONELINESS, NOT THAT YOU MAY SPARE ME AFFLICTION,
BUT THAT YOU MAY NOT ABANDON
ME IN IT.
WHEN I ENCOUNTER AFFLICTION,
TEACH ME TO SEE YOU IN IT AS MY SOLE COMFORTER.
LET AFFLICTION STRENGTHEN
MY FAITH, FORTIFY MY HOPE, AND PURFIY MY LOVE.GRANT ME THE GRACE TO SEE

Bernadette Soubirous is the saint of Lourdes,Visionary
and messenger of the Immaculate Conception, she told us the very words
of the Virgin Mary, spoken in the native Basque tongue of Southern France
and Northern Spain. She spoke words teaching of the merits of prayer, penance,
poverty and church. In the first and most widely recognized Marian apparition
of modern times, a personal message was delivered also to Bernadette—She
would not find happiness in this world, but only in the next.
She was to die twenty–one years later in 1879 after
a prolonged and painful illness. She remained hidden in a convent about
300 miles from home, a refuge from the interrogations and the pilgrims
that never ceased seeking her. At thirty–five, her strong–willed manner
gave way to her frail body, and she finally entered into her eternal happiness.
While she took with her the knowledge of certain
secrets the Virgin gave her, one secret remained hidden in our presence.
The most spectacular of all the incorruptibles, Bernadette's miraculously
preserved body remained buried in a damp grave for thirty years until the
cause for beatification was taken up. To this day, the body of Bernadette
is a profound source of inspiration and of mystery surrounding the ways
of the Lord. The face of Bernadette is one of surreal beauty, and will
remain for us always the face that gazed into the eyes of the Mother of
God.

SANTA BERNARDITA
Oh mi Dios, te
ruego, por tu soledad, no que me libres de aflicción sino
que no me abandones en ella.
Cuando me
encuentre en aflicción, enséñame a verte en ella como
mi único consuelo.
Permite que
la aflicción refuerce mi fe, fortalezca mi esperanza y purifique
mi amor. Concédeme la gracia de ver tu mano en mi aflicción,
y de no desear otro consuelo sino el tuyo. AMÉN. |
Bernardita Soubirous es la santa de Lourdes, Visionaria y mensajera de
la Inmaculada Concepción, nos dijo las palabras de la Virgen María
en lengua vasca nativa del Sur de Francia y Norte de España.
Enseñó los méritos de la oración, la penitencia,
la pobreza y la iglesia. En la primera y ampliamente reconocida aparición
Mariana en tiempos modernos, le fue dado el mensaje personal de que ella
no encontraría la felicidad en este mundo, sino en el otro.
Moriría veintiún años después en 1879 después
de una prolongada y dolorosa enfermedad. Permaneció recluída
en un convento a casi 486 Kilómetros de su hogar, para refugiarse
de los interrogatorios y peregrinos que nunca cesaron en buscarla. A los
treinta y cinco años de edad, su fuerte voluntad cedió paso
a su frágil cuerpo, y finalmente entró a la felicidad eterna.
Mientras que se llevó consigo el conocimiento de ciertos secretos
que la Virgen le dio, un secreto permaneció oculto para nosotros.
El más espectacular de todos los incorruptibles, el cuerpo de Bernardita
milagrosamente conservado enterrado en una húmeda sepultura por
treinta años hasta que se aceptó la causa de la beatificación.
Hasta hoy, el cuerpo de Bernardita es una profunda fuente de inspiración
y del misterio que rodea los caminos del Señor. El rostro de Bernardita
es de surrealista belleza, y permanecerá para nosotros como el rostro
que miró fijamente a los ojos de la Madre de Dios.
